Practical Study Guide

Methodology & Structure

What's on the Test

Reading & Writing: Craft & Structure (words in context, text structure & purpose, rhetorical synthesis), Information & Ideas (central claims, details & evidence), and Standard English Conventions (sentence boundaries, agreement & punctuation).

Math: Algebra (linear equations, systems & inequalities), Advanced Math (quadratics, exponentials & polynomials), Problem-Solving & Data Analysis (rates, ratios & statistics), and Geometry & Trigonometry (circles, triangles & trig ratios).

Spaced Repetition (SRS) & Daily Routine (1h/day)

Commit to 1h to 1h30 daily using spaced repetition (SRS) to systematically master academic vocabulary, punctuation rules, and essential math formulas.

Consistent daily recall sessions build durable long-term retention far more effectively than irregular marathon study sessions.

Golden Exam Tips (Adaptive Modules & Desmos)

Adaptive Modules: Strong performance in Module 1 unlocks the higher-difficulty Module 2, which is required to achieve scores above 700 in each section.

Embedded Desmos: Master the built-in graphing calculator to solve systems, intersections, and polynomial roots on screen in seconds.

Zero Penalty: Never leave a question blank — incorrect guesses carry zero score deduction on the Digital SAT.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Key answers for Digital SAT test takers
How does the Digital SAT multistage adaptive scoring work?
The Digital SAT has two sections (Reading & Writing, Math), each split into two timed modules. Module 1 contains a broad mix of difficulty levels. Your performance on Module 1 routes you to either an easier or harder Module 2. Qualifying for the harder Module 2 is required to unlock scores in the 700–800 range for that section.
Can I use the Desmos calculator on all Math questions?
Yes. The College Board embeds a full version of the Desmos graphing calculator directly inside the Bluebook testing app for the entire Math section. You can graph equations, find intersections, calculate roots, and run regressions without solving manually on scratch paper.
Is there a guessing penalty on the Digital SAT?
No. The Digital SAT features no negative marking. Incorrect answers receive zero points rather than a deduction, so you should always answer every question before time expires.
What are the most tested Standard English Conventions?
The highest-yield rules tested are sentence boundaries (preventing comma splices and run-ons with semicolons, periods, or coordinating conjunctions), subject-verb and pronoun-antecedent agreement, and nonessential modifier punctuation with paired commas or dashes.
